Llanito Language

I Just found out about the Llanito language from this great blog:
http://elllanito.blogspot.com/
The blogger teaches the language bit by bit in his posts! The language itself is very ineteresting as it is spoken in Gilbraltar and is a mix of English, Spanish, Genoese, Maltese and Hebrew.
Here is one of the lessons being shown in MLN Player:

Just double-click on a sentence to hear it!

By the way, my pronunciation is wrong and is just my guess at how it should be said ;-)

  1. It is hilarious! :D
I just go into the page and tried to say the words aloud. It is very strange to hear myself speaking a sort of Andalusian Spanish hehehe.

By the way...they write the words (verbs) as they are pronounced, don't they? (this makes it even more funny)

  2. I'm way back in your archives here, so you may not even see this, but nevertheless...

I know it's just a few phrases, but so far I think I would have understood all of them. The spelling and a few syllable-stresses are different, but to me it sounds like Spanish with a funny accent.

Kind of reminds me of when I first got to Spain and the Iberian Spanish took me a few days to adjust to. I knew about the "vosotros" thing, but the rhythm, syntax, inflections and so on were quite a shift from the Mexican/Latin American Spanish that we learn here in California.
